Nationwide Plumbers is a licensed NYC plumbing, heating and gas contractor (Master Plumber License #2023) working since 1984. In South Beach we handle sewer backups, boilers, water heaters, gas piping and building plumbing, with 24/7 emergency dispatch. Call 718-748-2727.
South Beach sits on the East Shore just south of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, with the beach, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk and Ocean Breeze Park along the water. Back from the shore the neighborhood is a mix: small detached houses on narrow lots, attached rows, and larger multifamily complexes, including public housing and garden-style apartments. Sand Lane, Seaview Avenue and the streets running down to Father Capodanno Boulevard cover most of it.

So our work here splits two ways. For homeowners, it is the usual shore set of problems: sewer backups in storms, pipes that freeze in crawl spaces and older water heaters and boilers. For multifamily buildings, it is risers, boiler rooms, main sewer lines and compliance work such as Local Law 152 gas inspections and Local Law 151 steam radiator inspections. We give written estimates and work with managing agents and boards.

Common plumbing issues in South Beach
Backups during coastal storms
When heavy rain and high tide hit at the same time, the sewers near the shore have nowhere to send water, and the lowest drains in a house are the first to overflow. A backwater valve on the house drain and a working floor drain are the basic defenses. We install both, and we check existing valves that may be stuck, buried or never maintained.
Boiler rooms in older multifamily buildings
Larger buildings here often run steam heat from a central boiler. Low water cutoffs, sticky main vents and clogged returns cause uneven heat and banging pipes. We service the boiler, clean the system and carry out the annual inspection so heat complaints are handled before tenants have to call the city about them.
Freeze risk on the waterfront blocks
Small houses close to the boardwalk take the full wind off the water, and crawl spaces and back walls get very cold. Hose bibs and supply lines on exterior walls are the usual casualties. We relocate or insulate lines and install frost-free hose bibs so the next cold snap is not a burst pipe. If a line does freeze, we thaw it carefully and check for splits before water is turned back on.

Plumbing in South Beach: FAQ
Does Local Law 151 apply to my building?
Local Law 151 requires steam radiator inspections in certain multifamily buildings. If your building has steam heat and apartments, ask us to review it. We perform the inspection, correct problems we find and help you keep the records.
Can you handle the whole main sewer line for an apartment complex?
Yes. We camera the line, clear it with our van-mounted jetter and repair or replace sections when needed. For buildings with repeat backups we can set up a regular cleaning schedule through a property management account. See property management for details.
Do you work in small houses near the boardwalk too?
Yes. Plenty of our South Beach calls come from homeowners with a water heater that quit, a frozen pipe, a running toilet, a clogged drain or a boiler that will not fire. Every job starts with a written estimate, and repairs carry a 1-year labor warranty.
