What work does Nationwide Plumbers do?

Do you do Local Law 152 gas piping inspections?
Yes. NYC Local Law 152 requires periodic inspections of gas piping in most buildings, other than one and two family homes, on a schedule set by community district. The inspection must be done by a licensed master plumber, or by a qualified person working under one. The plumber gives the owner a report, and the owner files the certification with the Department of Buildings. Read our Local Law 152 page or ask us when your building is due.
What should I do if I smell gas?
Leave the building right away. Do not turn lights or appliances on or off, do not use a lighter, and do not use your phone until you are outside. Once you are out, call 911 and your gas utility. After the utility has made the building safe, call a plumber to find and repair the leak. We do gas leak detection and gas line repair.
Do you take emergency calls?
Yes, we take emergency plumbing and gas calls. Call 718-748-2727 and tell the dispatcher what is happening (leak, no heat, sewer backup or gas smell) so we can send the right technician.
What is the January 1, 2027 gas detector deadline in New York City?
NYC Local Law 157 requires owners of multiple dwellings, and of one and two family homes that are not owner-occupied, to install natural gas detectors in units with gas piping. The City has said enforcement starts no earlier than January 1, 2027, and could move to 2029 if the Department of Buildings does not confirm that compliant detectors are available. Hardwired detectors must be installed by a licensed electrical contractor. Check the latest Department of Buildings notice for your building.
